JE Lifestyle Desk: The auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima is here and the celebrations are in full swing. It is a significant festival held in many regions of India and Nepal to pay tribute and express gratitude to one’s spiritual and intellectual mentors, or gurus.
According to the traditional Hindu calendar, Guru Purnima falls on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashadha, and this year Guru Purnima will be held on July 3, 2023. According to the Drik Panchang, Guru Purnima Tithi will begin at 8:21 PM on July 2 and end at 5:08 PM on July 3. In Sanskrit, guru means “one who removes all the darkness from your life,” “spiritual guide,” or “teacher who shows you the right path.”
Guru Purnima is a very important festival in Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist traditions where devotees pay honor and appreciation to their gurus for their guidance and knowledge. Not only that, but it is also said that all the gurus plays very important role in creating a person’s life by imparting all of their knowledge, values, and, most importantly, spiritual guidance.
