As trips to the grocery store are costing more these days, a second job could sound appealing.
Many of us have gotten a text message that says you could earn extra money for minimal work, but it could be a scam.

Messages include wording like, “flexible part-time and full-time work” and “allowing you to work 60 to 90 minutes a day.”
The offer claims to pay well too saying you could, “earn $200 to $500 a day. The basic salary is $2,000+ per week.”

Lots of people work from home or have a part time job, so an offer like this might look great.
But, the scam is after your money or your personal information and reports of these scams are on the rise, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
New data from the FTC says that consumers lost $61.2 million in 2024 from job text scams which was up significantly from the year before.

In 2023, consumers lost $14.8 million.
Experts say that text messages are the preferred method for scammers right now because it takes people an average of 90 minutes to open an email but only 90 seconds to open a text.
