13th February 2025 – (Hong Kong) The Transport Department (TD) issued a public warning today regarding fraudulent SMS messages falsely claiming to be from HKeToll. These messages include a hyperlink with the domain name http://hketoll.taobaocainiao.top/ZA17vEtuG6
, which directs recipients to a counterfeit HKeToll website. The fraudulent site aims to deceive users into making payments and collecting their credit card details.
In response, the TD clarified that these SMS messages were not issued by HKeToll and has referred the case to the Police for investigation. The department reminded the public that HKeToll does not send SMS or emails containing hyperlinks that direct users to complete transactions on external websites. Vehicle owners wishing to settle outstanding tolls online are advised to do so only through the official HKeToll website (hketoll.gov.hk
) or mobile app.
The TD urged members of the public to exercise caution when encountering unsolicited messages. Recipients are advised not to click on suspicious links or disclose personal information. Those who may have inadvertently shared their personal details with these fraudulent websites should contact the Police immediately.
For further information or queries regarding HKeToll, individuals can call the official hotline at 3853 7333. The TD continues to emphasise the importance of staying vigilant to online scams.
