BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Residents are again being warned about scam OMV text messages.
The texts claim to come from the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles and threaten people over unpaid tickets or fees.
“You have an unpaid traffic ticket with a deadline of March 1, 2026. Failure to pay by the deadline will result in suspension of vehicle registration,” the latest text message reads in part.
According to the OMV, the text messages are fake.
Officials with the OMV are asking residents to spread the word about the scam text messages to friends and family.
