MMS P2P to top SMS revenue by 2008 – RCR Wireless News

BOSTON-Peer-to-peer multimedia messaging service will generate more revenue for wireless operators than P2P short message service by 2008, according to a study from the Yankee Group.
The survey concluded that P2P MMS soon will be a lucrative offering for mobile operators that can provide good user experiences.
“This is the right time for mobile network operators to rethink their MMS infrastructure strategies,” said X.J. Wang, Yankee Group wireless/mobile technologies senior analyst. “An insufficient MMS infrastructure will hamper services, and early adopters will not hesitate to abandon a poor service. The failure of WAP service should be a valuable lesson for launching multimedia services.”
