One of the candidates for Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District is publicly defending himself and his campaign after reports of inappropriate text messages.
The conversations were between Jackson Lahmeyer and a woman who is not his wife. Those text messages were first reported by the British tabloid, The Daily Mail, but were also sent to News On 6 independently on June 12.
Lahmeyer, who is a local pastor, businessman and married father of five, is running for Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District.
The messages show Lahmeyer and the woman engaging in multiple conversations. In the text messages we were sent, Lahmeyer compliments her body, sends selfies and says he wants to see her in person.
After the story broke in The Daily Mail, Lahmeyer posted on both X and Facebook that “a distorted story from a British tabloid was released just two days before my election. This matter was already dealt with privately between me and my wife, Kendra, through counsel and prayer with God and spiritual advisors. I own crossing a boundary line through text messaging.”
Lahmeyer went on to question whether the story was paid for and why the communications were cherry-picked to create an impression that is not accurate.
It’s important to note News On 6 did not pay for the messages, and we reached out multiple times Monday for comment from the Lahmeyer campaign but did not hear back.
President Trump reaffirmed his endorsement of Lahmeyer on Truth Social, saying, “It is my great honor to endorse MAGA warrior Jackson Lahmeyer…” He went on to say, “Get out and vote for Jackson.” Trump originally endorsed him in early May.
Lahmeyer is also the founder of Pastors for Trump, a nationwide group that supports the president’s America First agenda.
