How to permanently block spam calls and SMS on Jio – The Indian Express

Spam calls and SMS are on a meteoric rise. If you hoped artificial intelligence and machine learning would save you from this, you could be wrong because cybercriminals now use such technology––with techniques like robocall––to direct those spam calls and SMSes to you.
If you are a Jio network user, there is an easy way to block these unwanted calls and messages with just a click of a button via the MyJio app. Users can completely block spam calls while continuing to receive important messages and updates from brands, including OTP, or they can partially block these calls to let in some advertisement calls.
To block spam calls and SMS on the Jio network, one needs to enable do not disturb (DND) services; however, along with the spam calls and SMS, it will also block some of the telemarketing calls.
Users can also customise the DND services by selecting the exact category of calls and messages to be blocked. This includes options like banking, real estate, education, health, tourism, and more.
Even if you enable the full block option, you will continue to receive transactional calls/SMS from your service providers and government agencies.
Open the MyJio app > click on more > Do Not Disturb > and enable “fully blocked” or “promotional communication blocked” or set a custom preference as needed.
For most users, we recommend enabling the fully blocked option, as it stops the most number of spam calls and SMS.
