A FORMER Hearts defender has kick started his new career.
Quite literally.
Do you remember Blazej Augustyn?
He played 27 times for Hearts during the 2015-16 season, even captaining the side on occasion after signing on a free transfer from Gornik Zabrze in his native Poland.
His stay in Edinburgh would last just the single season as he went on to join Ascoli at the expiration of his one-year deal.
The centre-back would go on to turn out for Lechia Gdańsk and Jagiellonia Białystok in his homeland before moving down the leagues to Wieczysta Kraków and then WKS Wierzbice, where he is currently.
Now 35 his footy career is on the wind down but he is already making steps into his next venture.
And those steps are into the octagon.
Augustyn has been training to become an MMA fighter and this weekend made his official debut at a Clout MMA event in Krakow – even winning his inaugural bout.
And what's even more impressive is that he did so with just 24 hours to prepare.
Granted, Augustyn's Instagram account is littered with snaps of him getting in shape.
He took down seasoned fighter Dominik Pudzianowski for the win, and MMA Rocks described Augustyn's performance as dominant in their summary.
Before turning out for the Tynecastle club, Augustyn started his professional football career at Bolton Wanderers, who were then in the Premier League, having been plucked from the youth academy of UKS SMS Lodz.
He never cracked the first team at the Reebok Stadium however and moved back to Poland with Legia Warsaw after two years.
Augustyn also played for several teams in Italy, including Rimini, Catania and Vicenza.
Some Jambos noticed the video footage of the fight circulating on social media, which showed Augustyn landing a punch that knocked his opponent to the deck.
One said: "Quite the change in career from ripping it up at Tynecastle."
Elsewhere, the burger offering at Tannadice has been slammed by football fans on social media and branded the "most depressed burger ever".
The snack was shared on Twitter by Footy Scran and Dundee United came in for a bit of stick to say the least, particularly with the item costing £4.50.
