In a statement, the SPMS said that fake SMS messages are circulating, indicating that “urgent” amounts are due and must be paid within five days.
These messages contain a link that directs users to a fraudulent website, where they are provided with an ATM reference number to make the payment. When clicking “Confirm,” they are asked to enter personal and bank card information.
“This is a fake SMS message scheme, known as ‘smishing,’ using credible entities, such as the SNS and SNS 24, to trick recipients into providing personal and banking information, with the goal of obtaining financial advantage,” warned the SPMS.
The statement recommends that users delete these messages.

“The National Health Service and SNS 24 never request personal or banking information” via SMS, the SPMS assured, adding that “due diligence is being carried out with the appropriate authorities.”
