A lot of viewers are reaching out to News 8 concerned about messages claiming their packages may not be delivered before the holidays.
This is a scam we have told you about many times in the past, but in the last few days, we have heard from a surprising number of viewers who are not aware of these shipping scam
text messages.
Viewers are being sent text messages claiming a package can’t be delivered for whatever reason.
This message claims to be from the postal service and blames an invalid zip code address.
But these messages also appear to be from FedEx, DHL, UPS, or even retailers like Amazon and Walmart.
In the message, a link is provided.
If you click on this, it could download a dangerous virus and ask you for personal information or a credit card.
Nothing good comes from clicking on this link.
When you order something, you can sign up to get text notifications or emails, but they will offer you very specific information about your shipment, including the company name and the product you ordered.
Don’t fall for this and ruin your holidays.
