You no longer have to manage sending out text messages thanks to ChatGPT’s latest feature.
Sam Altman, who serves as the chief executive officer of OpenAI, spoke candidly about the future of the technology. He believes that within the next six months, ChatGPT will evolve to monitor a computer screen 24/7, attend every meeting, record each call, and have the full context of your work life.
“You choose what information you want it to have, but it can connect to your texts or email or Docs or Slack or whatever,” Altman said in a video shared by LinkedIn user Leon Jose. “If you’re the CEO of a startup, there’s always more stuff to do than you can do … You can’t read every piece of customer feedback every day. And you can just have this thing that’s working alongside you.”
“I think we’re only one model generation away from this actually being incredibly useful. And I think that will change, hopefully at least for me, change the way I work,” he added.
Now, OpenAI has announced the launch of an Apple Messages plugin that can be accessed by users across all ChatGPT plans for macO in Codex and ChatGPT Work, according to a blog post.
“In Codex and ChatGPT Work, it can read and search iMessage, SMS, and RCS chats on your Mac and send messages on your behalf through the Messages app. It doesn’t let you interact with ChatGPT remotely through Messages, and it doesn’t work in regular ChatGPT chats,” the company said in the post.
ChatGPT will also be able to search for and summarize messages and other information shared in Apple Messages conversations.
OpenAI has claimed that its plug-ins won’t automatically create a full index of a user’s messages, according to TechCrunch. Users must make a specific request for ChatGPT to view a message.
Then, ChatGPT will only send messages once the user approves them and the recipients are approved. However, if a user selects “Always allow sending to this chat,” messages will be sent later without the device holder’s approval, per the company’s blog post.
