The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has warned businesses and organisations to register their branded SMS sender IDs ahead of new anti-scam measures taking effect on 1 July. Under the new rules, SMS messages sent using unregistered branded sender IDs will no longer display the organisation’s name. Instead, they will be labelled ‘Unverified’ and grouped with messages from other unregistered senders, including potential scam communications.
