The Traffic Police Department warns of tricks to forge remote fine notices sent via text messages.
The Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security has just issued an urgent warning about the scam of “cold fines” via SMS messages, and at the same time requested people to raise their vigilance to avoid being appropriated property by subjects.
According to the Traffic Police Department, subjects send mass SMS messages with content, such as “Your vehicle violated traffic laws. Please access… to look up and pay fines”, and use fake domain names containing easy-to-misunderstand keywords such as “csgt”, “bocongan” to create trust.
The Traffic Police Department said that the purpose of the subjects is to lure people to click on the link and follow the instructions to steal accounts, bank passwords, OTP codes or secretly install malware on phones to appropriate property.
To avoid “falling into the trap”, the Traffic Police Department recommends that people absolutely do not click on any links sent from strange phone numbers of unknown origin.
In addition, do not provide personal information, bank account numbers or OTP codes to anyone in any form.
When there is a need to check traffic ticket information, people are advised to use the VNeTraffic application for lookup.
At the same time, people need to proactively block phone numbers and report spam messages on their phones.
According to the Traffic Police Department, the unit will coordinate with units to investigate and thoroughly handle the above-mentioned acts, and at the same time request people to raise their vigilance.
