·
Zamani Telecom, formerly Orange Niger, has appointed Hayo as its exclusive partner for application-to-person (A2P) SMS monetisation and SMS firewall deployment. The partnership will see Hayo manage fraud prevention and traffic optimisation across Zamani’s network, which serves more than three million customers in Niger.
Under the agreement, Hayo will test, identify and block fraudulent SMS traffic on Zamani’s network. The firewall solution includes daily penetration testing, rule optimisation, artificial-inflation traffic (AIT) detection, and anti-fraud training for Zamani’s teams.
The deal also opens a reliable route for global technology companies, including Alibaba, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Temu and TikTok, to deliver A2P SMS messages to users in Niger. A2P messaging is used to send verification codes, transaction alerts, and marketing notifications from businesses to mobile subscribers.
“Our A2P monetisation strategies and SMS firewall solutions ensure that operators are free from fraud and proactively block traffic from illegitimate sources,” said Feraz Ahmed, CEO at Hayo. “Our goal is to maximise the profitability and sustainability of Zamani’s A2P SMS revenue streams and enable it to thrive for the benefit of Nigerien communities.”
Paul Loveridge, EVP of Carrier Services at Hayo, said the partnership would increase Zamani’s competitiveness. “Hayo has a proven track record of consulting, developing and delivering solutions that increase revenue and optimise traffic,” he said.
Zamani Telecom operates fixed, mobile and internet services in Niger. The company previously operated under the Orange brand, which has an extensive presence across West Africa. Orange’s regional network includes Djoliba, the first pan-West African backbone that connects multiple countries.
Hayo is a global digital services provider with more than 500 service provider relationships worldwide. The company offers solutions spanning voice, SMS, communications platform as a service (CPaaS), security and IoT, with significant coverage across Africa.
