SF Express Hong Kong to stop sending parcel delivery SMS texts to combat scams – South China Morning Post

Company will only notify customers with self-pickup parcels via its mobile app ‘SFHK’ starting on Monday
Major courier firm SF Express has stopped sending text messages to Hong Kong customers with self-pickup parcels and will only send notifications via its mobile app in a bid to reduce the chances of scams.
The express delivery firm announced that the new arrangement came into effect on Monday.
“To further protect our customers from fraudulent SMS messages and phishing websites, SF Express Hong Kong will reduce SMS notifications starting April 14, 2025,” the company said.
“All self-pickup notifications for parcels will be exclusively delivered via app push notifications through our official mobile application ‘SFHK App’, significantly mitigating the risk of counterfeit message scams.”
The firm said the latest move could reduce the risk of receiving false messages among its customers.
Since August last year, the company had gradually been using the app to replace parcel pickup text messages and switched to push notifications only after an eight-month transitional period.
