Tesla on Monday filed a lawsuit against the Swedish state via Sweden's Transport Agency as striking postal workers in the Scandinavian country halted the delivery of license plates of new vehicles manufactured by the Texas-based automaker. Facebook parent Meta Platforms deliberately engineered its social platforms to hook kids and knew — but never disclosed — it had received millions of complaints about underage users on Instagram but only disabled a fraction of those accounts, according to a newly unsealed legal complaint described in reports from The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Company documents cited in the complaint described several Meta officials acknowledging the company designed its products to exploit shortcomings in youthful psychology such as impulsive behavior, susceptibility to peer pressure and the underestimation of risks, according to the reports. Others acknowledged Facebook and Instagram also were popular with children under age 13 who, per company policy, were not allowed to use the service.
Oil prices fell on Monday, with the Brent benchmark hovering around $80 a barrel as investors awaited this week's OPEC+ meeting and expected curbs on supplies into 2024. Brent crude futures were down 37 cents, or 0.4%, at $80.21 a barrel by 11:33 a.m. ET (1633 GMT), while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures lost 29 cents, or 0.4%, to $75.25. Prices tumbled midweek when OPEC+ – the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and allies including Russia – postponed to Nov. 30 a ministerial meeting to iron out differences on production targets for African producers.
