The point of a phone is to communicate over a distance, in the era of mobile phones it was about making calls and sending SMS messages. With mobile data, however, we no longer write classic SMS over the GSM network, but rather send them over data. For this reason, iMessages are a bit pointless. 
Apple there is no need to give us an alternative to iMessage. This was decided last year.The EU wanted to regulate them, but in the end it accepted Apple’s arguments that it was not a dominant platform, and therefore the Messages app will continue to live the life it has lived so far. The only difference will be that when our operators become free and allow RCS, we will also send messages on Android via data, including multimedia content. 
Classic SMS will essentially die. Only owners of “dumb” phones and those who don’t use data on their devices will send them. Apple Although he won, in the end it may not be a big news for him in our part of the world. If he had once provided the application on Android, which he was considering, the situation might have been different. The position of the application and the service as such is not essential in our country and Apple It’s a shame that Google News, for example, isn’t available on iOS.
Recently, quite a few people in my neighborhood have been switching from Android to iOS. But they have the same app for almost everything on their iPhones, whether it’s a web browser, an email client, cross-platform apps with mutual synchronization, including those for notes, tasks, calendars, etc. All “Android people” used WhatsApp or Messenger, or both, and even after the switch, they primarily use these platforms for their text communications. Messages are dying because these users are more likely to start a conversation with an unknown contact in WhatsApp than in Messages. 
Unfortunately, many long-time iPhone users have adapted and, rather than using multiple chat platforms, automatically cut off Messages. So personally, I communicate with iPhone owners through chat platforms. It’s easier for us than having some conversations in Messages, others in WhatsApp, others in Messenger, and others elsewhere. 
In iOS 18.4, you can now choose many default apps if you don’t want to use Apple’s. But this is the case here, in the EU, because in the domestic market and in the rest of the world, Apple is still trying to keep its sheep in the safest possible pen. And there is also News. However, to the delight of everyone, and especially to the delight of all switchers who mostly use Google News anyway, Apple would be helped if it directly gave a choice of possible titles and did not leave it to the user to search for them in the App Store. Google News is not there. Moreover, it will now gain a lot of strength, because Samsung is closing its own news application in favor of Google’s title. The division into blue and green bubbles simply does not make sense these days.
