WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) – Deputies are warning people about scam text messages that have started popping up on smart phones.
According to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the text messages tell people that their vehicles have an unpaid toll invoice or something similar.
Deputies said the scam messages are labeled as “EZDriveMA” and claim to help you pay a toll bill and avoid late fees.
The messages are not legitimate and clicking on them could lead to someone stealing your identity.
According to WBRSO, there is a legitimate EZDriveMA website. However, the website will not request payments through a text message.
West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Jeff Bergeron is urging people not to click on links in the text messages and to warn others about the messages.
