India’s HDFC Bank has teamed up with Marriott Bonvoy, the travel program by Marriott International, to introduce a co-branded hotel credit card.
The Marriott Bonvoy HDFC Bank Credit Card is aiming to become “one of the most rewarding travel cards in India,” the companies said in a Thursday (Aug. 24) press release. The credit card will be powered by Diners Club International, a part of the Discover Global Network.
By combining the strengths of both brands, this credit card offers a wide range of travel benefits to consumers, according to the press release. Cardholders will enjoy Silver Elite Status with Marriott Bonvoy, which includes exclusive member rates, priority late checkout, Marriott Bonvoy bonus points and other benefits.
Ranju Alex, area vice president, South Asia, at Marriott International, said in the release that this collaboration aims to introduce a new generation of Indian explorers to the world of travel. The partnership between Marriott Bonvoy and HDFC Bank aligns with their vision of hospitality by offering personalized benefits that extend beyond hotel stays.
Parag Rao, country head of payment business, consumer finance, technology and digital banking at HDFC Bank, stated that the introduction of India’s first co-branded hotel credit card reflects their commitment to providing innovative financial solutions. The card aims to enhance the travel experiences of cardholders by offering exclusive benefits, rewards and easy access to Marriott International’s travel program.
Chris Winter, vice president of international markets at Diners Club International, highlighted the access to travel benefits and privileges that Diners Club offers to cardholders who prefer travel rewards cards. The partnership between Marriott Bonvoy, HDFC Bank and Diners Club benefits those who travel for work and pleasure, as well as those who use the card for everyday local spend, Winter added.
In another recent development in this space, Expedia Group unveiled a new loyalty program in July that rewards travel and hospitality business across the company’s portfolio. The program, called One Key, unifies the travel brands Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo into one rewards program, allowing travelers to earn and use rewards more easily than ever before.
Two months earlier, in May, Expedia Group and Mastercard partnered to launch a new loyalty points redemption solution that lets Mastercard cardholders redeem their points for travel bookings powered by Expedia.
