On social networks, a navigator with offline maps, no ads, and no need to connect to the internet is being advertised. However, such an announcement may hide a scam scheme: users are directed to a special website and offered to download a malicious file via a Telegram bot.

According to the Cyber Police, attackers post advertisements on social networks for an allegedly free navigator that works without internet connection, contains no ads, and allows the use of offline maps.
After clicking on the advertisement, the user is taken to a specially created website. From there, they are offered to proceed to a Telegram bot through which a malicious file is distributed.
When installing such an “app,” the smartphone requests permission to install from unknown sources and to grant access to various device functions. If the user agrees, the malicious software may give attackers the ability to remotely control the smartphone.
In particular, scammers can gain access to SMS messages, contacts, and notifications, view information on the screen, intercept data entered by the user, and also gain access to bank accounts.
To avoid becoming a victim of such a scheme, the Cyber Police recommend following several rules:
If you have installed a suspicious app, delete it and change the passwords to your important accounts.
Also, notify the banks where you have accounts and check your transaction history. If you find suspicious transactions, contact the bank immediately.
If you have become a victim of fraud, report it to the Cyber Police through the appropriate form on their official website.
