The State Agency for Digital Development (SADR) urges residents of Latvia to be cautious: scammers have started sending SMS messages claiming there is a new message in the e-adrese system. The agency emphasizes that such messages are false. The e-adrese service does not use SMS to notify users about new incoming letters. If you receive such a message, do not click on the link contained in it. This may lead to a fake website created to steal personal information or login data for government electronic services. To check if you have indeed received a new message, specialists recommend opening the portal Latvija.gov.lv yourself and logging into your account in the usual way, without using links from the SMS. This is the simplest way to distinguish a genuine notification from a fraudulent one. If there is indeed a new letter in the system, it will be displayed after logging into the portal. SADR reminds that official notifications about new messages in e-adrese are sent only via email from the address [email protected]. The service does not send SMS notifications. Such fraudulent campaigns regularly emerge following the rise in popularity of government electronic services. Therefore, specialists recommend always checking the source of the notification and not clicking on links from unexpected messages.
