Saskatchewan RCMP are investigating fraudulent text messages that recently targeted members of the public.
On June 29, Battlefords RCMP received complaints about scam text messages claiming recipients had an outstanding traffic citation. The messages instructed recipients to click a link and submit payment online while falsely identifying the sender as the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan.
Officers determined the messages originated from a phone number using a “+21” area code.

RCMP remind residents that the messages are fraudulent and urge the public not to click on any links or provide payment or personal information.
If you receive a scam text message, RCMP advise you not to reply to the sender, to block the number immediately, never send money or gift cards, and keep a record of the messages.
Saskatchewan RCMP continue to investigate.
