WhatsApp View Once Text Messages: Vital 2026 iOS Upgrade – Techgenyz

WhatsApp develops single-view text messaging functionality for iPhone users within the latest beta builds.
Users trigger ephemeral text transmissions by long-pressing the standard chat bar send button.
System privacy protocols actively block screenshots, screen recordings, and message forwarding configurations.
Group chats and individual conversations support the feature while public broadcast channels remain excluded.
The WhatsApp View Once text messages framework is actively entering internal development phases for iOS devices, according to recent tracking reports from platform analytical source Wabetainfo. This forthcoming utility expands the ecosystem’s existing temporary data footprint, which currently supports single-use protocols for photographic assets, video files, and localized voice notes.
The upcoming integration provides independent security controls for text-based transmissions by ensuring that designated messages instantly become unreadable once the intended recipient opens them a single time. By locking down data visibility, the architecture actively stops users from archiving, saving, or distributing highly sensitive logs.
Currently, WhatsApp’s official “disappearing message” setting applies strict time limits across an entire chat conversation, supporting automated countdown timers set for 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days. As reported by 9to5mac, with the new option, which has yet to roll out broadly, the users will also be able to set new messages to vanish after they have been read.
In the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.24.10.16 update, which is available on TestFlight, it can be seen that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that lets users share text messages with the View Once option.
As reported by Wabetainfo, the View Once option will work for text messages in WhatsApp:
To ensure that the text messages remain secure and reach only the intended individual, WhatsApp is reportedly expanding its overall privacy toolkit with strong privacy protections. According to the report made by Wabetainfo:
However, while someone could still capture the message using a second device, WhatsApp minimizes this risk by restricting all in-app actions as much as possible. WhatsApp already offers disappearing messages, end-to-end encryption, and the view once media as part of its privacy features.
This View Once feature is reportedly currently under development and is not yet available to users, and it is also not enabled for beta testers at this current stage. Furthermore, WhatsApp has not announced an official timeline for its release. However, according to the report made by Wabetainfo, the view once option is expected to be available for beta testers first, in a future update, before rolling out in the stable version for the wider public. More details about the feature are expected to be officially released by WhatsApp later.
To date, the users who wanted to share temporary messages with others have had no native way to do so directly in WhatsApp, unlike Instagram, which offers the Vanish Mode and the Disappearing Messages mode. As a result, many of the users would include their message as a caption on an image and send it using the existing view once option. Thus, this upcoming unreleased feature will finally offer a dedicated solution for the issue by making it easier for users to share messages that disappear as soon as the recipient opens them.
