ROSWELL, Ga. — A former Roswell High School administrator, who is 55 years old, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student and allegedly became deeply embedded in the teenager’s life.
Warrants allege she befriended his family. She tutored his younger sibling. She bought gifts for his siblings. She even rented a cabin in Helen for the family after learning the teen’s mother had never taken a vacation.
On Wednesday, 11Alive obtained the arrest warrant for Dr. Amanda Katz. According to statements made by Dr. Katz and the teenager, the relationship eventually evolved into discussions about the teenager moving in with her, graduating early and even relocating to Mexico together.
The relationship came to light after the teen’s mother discovered text messages during a mountain getaway on Valentine’s Day weekend in Helen.
Roswell Police charged Katz with one count of sexual assault by a person with supervisory or disciplinary authority, which is a felony under Georgia law.
The warrant alleges the relationship occurred between late December 2025 and mid-February 2026 while Katz was employed as an administrative assistant at Roswell High School.
The warrant explains that at one time Katz was a teacher of the student before she transitioned into an administrative role at the high school.
As for how it all started, the warrant alleges the teenager explained that Katz told him she wanted to learn to speak Spanish. The teenager ended up at her home, where he said they first had sex right after Christmas at her Alpharetta home. Warrants claim over the next several weeks, the sex continued — in her basement, and inside her car, outside the teenager’s job in her vehicle, and the text messages continued.
Text messages included in the warrants detail what police described as an increasingly emotional and secretive relationship.
“That was fun I enjoyed it,” the student allegedly texted Katz in a Dec. 27 exchange.
“All of it,” Katz responded.
“Yes every second of it,” the student replied.
“Come back,” Katz allegedly wrote.
Katz had become so close with the family that they regularly spent time together outside school. The warrant states she tutored a younger sibling and was considered a trusted family friend.
The sexual relationship was allegedly hidden from everyone around them.
In one text exchange reviewed by investigators, Katz expressed fear about what could happen if others learned about the relationship.
“I’m terrified… Literally scared shi*****,” she allegedly wrote. When the teen asked why she was scared, Katz replied, “That’s what I need to talk to you about. But not over text.”
The next day, investigators said Katz instructed the teen to delete evidence of their communications.
“I’ll make sure you’re out early. But I would delete this conversation,” one message states. Police said the pair also discussed avoiding detection and Katz urged the teen to stop sharing his location with his mother.
As family members grew suspicious, the messages became increasingly emotional.
Investigators said Katz warned the teen that discovery of the relationship could cost her everything.
“She’s not going to let that happen and if you fight her, I will lose not just you but everything I’ve worked for,” Katz allegedly wrote while discussing the teen’s mother.
Later in the same exchange, she wrote, “Everything about us has to be deleted.”
The warrant alleges Katz also discussed a future with the teenager after graduation.
During a forensic interview, the teen told investigators Katz encouraged him to transfer from Roswell High School to another high school that would allow him to graduate sooner. The warrant alleges Katz wanted the teen to graduate early so he could move in with her.
The teen later told investigators the pair discussed living together after graduation. He said Katz offered to financially support him and provide a place to stay. He also said Katz talked about moving to Mexico with him, though he told investigators he did not understand why she wanted to relocate there.
Investigators said Katz purchased gifts for the teenager, including a spinning ring and pocketknife. She also allegedly bought gifts for his siblings, including jewelry and a Nintendo Switch.
Perhaps the most revealing messages came after the Valentine’s Day weekend trip ended abruptly.
Katz rented a cabin in Helen after the teenager told her his mother had never been on a vacation.
The warrant alleges she invited the family on the trip and paid for the rental. In the warrant, the teenager allegedly admitted during an interview that the two left the cabin together while the rest of the family remained behind. And at some point, had sex inside Dr. Katz’s vehicle.

According to the warrant, the teen’s mother started having concerns about how comfortable the two were around each other. At some point she got into her son’s phone and discovered the messages and the relationship.
The warrant alleges the family gathered their belongings in the middle of the night and left the cabin, leaving Katz behind.
Hours later, investigators said Katz began sending a series of emotional texts.
“You ******* broke my heart. You left me. Alone,” one message states. In another, Katz allegedly wrote, “I trusted you and you showed me why I can’t.”
The messages also show Katz acknowledging the potential criminal consequences of the relationship.
“We are lying to everyone. For what? How long? I don’t want to go to jail. I won’t do well in jail … I’m too pretty,” she allegedly wrote. Hours later, she added, “I have done a lot of stupid things. A lot. But this is top level.”
But the story doesn’t stop there. The warrant claims that Katz went back to Roswell High School after Valentine’s Day weekend, confided in her colleagues that her boyfriend broke up with her and that her mom did not like her and that it was over. She then had to reveal that her boyfriend was the 16-year-old student which led to an internal investigation and her arrest on Tuesday.
The 16-year-old was popular at Roswell High School, the warrant alleges, but the student ended up leaving the school based on her persuasion.
Investigators said forensic analysis uncovered 19,585 text messages and 591 phone calls exchanged between Dec. 24, 2025, and Feb. 17, 2026. The warrant alleges the communications documented a romantic relationship, future plans together and repeated discussions about keeping the relationship secret.
Katz resigned from Roswell High School on April 30 after the investigation began, according to the warrant.
A judge granted her a $25,000 bond and ordered her to wear an ankle monitor if she’s released.
Because of Katz’s previous position, Roswell Police are asking anyone who may have additional information regarding this case or similar incidents to contact Detective McGinniss at 770-640-4570 or [email protected].
