One New Zealand has introduced an SMS firewall on its mobile network aimed at blocking malicious and fraudulent text messages before they reach customers. The operator said the firewall has already identified thousands of scam messages targeting users. In almost all cases, the messages were blocked prior to delivery. The system is designed to filter high-risk scams that impersonate organisations or individuals, including banks, parcel delivery services and so-called "Hi Mum" messages.
