A Vodafone spokesperson said “Vodafone Unwrapped is a fascinating look at how Australia connects. The numbers show Aussies love staying in touch over our mobile network which doubled in size this year, now covering more than one million square kilometres.”
“In 2025, customers sent 6.7 billion texts and placed nearly 4 billion calls. Thursdays were the nation’s biggest messaging day, while October topped the charts for phone calls in the lead up to the holiday season.”
This year, Vodafone customers made nearly 4 billion phone calls, chatting away for more than 9.9 billion minutes, the equivalent of spending approximately 18,955 years on the phone in 2025.
New South Wales residents are Australia’s top chatterboxes, ringing in a total of 2,052,341,084 calls on the Vodafone network and spending approximately 65,846,312 hours talking away. That’s 7,516 years or over 75 centuries of conversation!

Australians fired off a whopping 6.7 billion SMS messages on the Vodafone network in 2025. Leading the charge, New South Wales claimed the crown as Australia’s SMS capital, with Vodafone customers sending an incredible 2.48 billion texts, which is about 4,714 messages every minute.

From binge-watching to endless scrolling, Vodafone customers had broken their total data usage record consuming a massive 849,400,180 GB of data in 2025. If you’re a Wicked fan, this is the equivalent of streaming the latest movie approximately 1,698,800,360 times or watching Netflix for 387,853 years non-stop.
