Globe is making it easier for subscribers to fight back against text-based phishing with the launch of its SMS Scam Shield feature on the GlobeOne app.
Now available for Android users, the tool helps protect against spoofed sender IDs and fraudulent links that disguise themselves as messages from Globe, GCash, or banks.
Once activated, SMS Scam Shield scans messages locally on your device—without sending them to Globe’s servers—to ensure privacy. If a suspicious message is detected, the app sends a push notification to warn you. The system also identifies fake sender names such as “GLOBE,” “GLOBEREWARD,” or “GCASH” and flags phishing links.
How to activate:
After setup, protection runs automatically in the background at no cost. Globe emphasized that it does not read or store your SMS messages—only harmful links are collected to strengthen defenses.
Since its rollout, more than 34,000 subscribers have activated the feature, which has already flagged over 13,000 phishing messages.
Globe also encourages users to report suspicious texts at globe.com.ph/stop-spam to help expand scam detection.
